This spring we ordered a fire pit and had it delivered. Truth be told I was more excited about fires in the winter than the summer. Given rising COVID cases (again!) it may be the best way to actually see people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fires = smores. We’ve just about stripped the live tree stick options from our backyard, and in the winter those are harder to find anyway. So… I got crafty and DIY – as I am want to do. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had some hardwood sticks on hand (they were cut for a carving project two years ago that never happened) This meant that they were already dry and cured. I suspect this is a key factor in this project. You could use an old broom stick as well I am sure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Materials: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-old forks (I bought mine from the thrift store for 20 cents each)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-hardwood sticks, dried<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-hack saw, hammer<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-hose clamp (found in plumbing, not in electrical… in case you head there like I did)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I used a hack saw to cut off the end of the fork. I also used the hack saw to cut a small slice in the end of the stick. Although I imagine there is a better tool, it worked fine for me. I forced the cut fork handle into the slice with a gentle tap of a hammer, and then reinforced the whole thing with a hose clamp. In most cases I could just loosen the hose clamp and slip it over the stick. Where that doesn’t work, you can keep loosening and open them up to fit over top of a fat stick or fork. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easy peasy – works great and looks cute too \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n
